Sheikh Khalid

Sheikh Khaled ElRouby originates from Cairo, Egypt. He joined Azahar middle and high school from 1991 to 1998. He received his Quran studies at a young age and complete the memorization of the whole Quran when he was only 13 years of age under the supervision of Sheikh Kamal Hasan. He started his studies in Fiqh and its branches in 1998 at the Faculty of Sharia in Al Azhar University, Egypt. Furthermore, he graduated in 2002 after being granted multiple awards, one of which being ranked 1st in the Quran Alkareem Competition at Al Azhar in 1998.

He was appointed as Imam, Khateeb, and instructor at the Ministry of Awqaf in 2005. He then moved to the US in 2007 to lead Tarawih prayers and Quran teaching in Belleville and Centralia, Illinois.

As of 2019, he was appointed as Director of Religious Education and assistant spiritual leader, along with duties as Quran and Arabic teacher at Central Illinois Mosque and Islamic Center in Urbana, Illinois.

In addition to regular classes/sessions, the Sheikh also teaches CIMIC Sunday School Arabic and Quran Classes every Sunday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
