CIMIC is undertaking construction of a three story new CIMIC Community Center. This visionary project will include a gym, apartments and parking
For decades, CIMIC has been a home away from home for Muslim students. It has offered community, comfort, mentorship, and a sense of belonging during some of the most formative years of life. Many of your most meaningful friendships, memories, and milestones are tied to this place.
Today, the community that once nurtured us is facing a new and urgent challenge.
The Champaign–Urbana Muslim population has grown dramatically over the past decade. Friday prayers now overflow into hallways. Eid gatherings strain the limits of the property. Weddings, funerals, youth programs, and interfaith events routinely exceed our space.
CIMIC is the only Islamic center serving this region, yet it can no longer meet the needs of our expanding community.
In response, we are undertaking a major initiative: the construction of a new three story CIMIC
Community Center. This visionary project will include:
- A large multipurpose gymnasium designed for community events, sports activities, and student engagement
- Apartments built into the facility (on second and third floor) to generate sustainable long-term revenue for CIMIC, also ensuring this expansion is financialy viable
- A new parking facility across the street to accommodate larger gatherings
This center will not simply be a building. It will be a shared investment in our collective future a safe, welcoming, purpose-built space for worship, unity, service, and community life.
The estimated cost of this transformative project is $8 million. This is a substantial amount, but with broad community commitment and the blessings of God, it is an achievable goal.
